Mouse Test

Check your mouse or trackpad behaves. Click in the test area to confirm the left, right and middle buttons register, scroll to test the wheel, and double-click to check the timing. Live cursor coordinates and a click log help you spot a button that misfires or double-fires.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Click each button

Left, right and middle click inside the pad. Each press is logged and the matching button lights up.

  2. 2

    Test the scroll wheel

Scroll up and down, and press the wheel as a middle click. Smooth, even steps mean the encoder is healthy.

  3. 3

    Check double-clicks

Double-click and confirm it counts as one double rather than firing twice. Stray double-clicks point to a worn switch.

When it comes in handy

Diagnosing double-click problems

Confirm a mouse that opens things twice or drops drags has a failing switch, a common fault on older mice.

New mouse setup

Check every button and the wheel work, including extra side buttons, before you rely on a new mouse.

Trackpad checks

Verify a laptop trackpad registers left, right and middle actions and scrolls smoothly after an update or repair.

Instant & 100% private — nothing is recorded

The test runs right here in your browser. When it needs your camera or microphone, the feed is shown to you and nothing else: never uploaded, never recorded to a server, never stored. There is no sign-up and no email wall, and most tests keep working with no connection at all.

Frequently asked questions

My mouse double-clicks when I click once — why?
A single press registering as two clicks is the classic sign of a worn micro-switch inside the mouse. The contact bounces and sends a second signal. The click log here makes it easy to confirm: if one physical press shows two events, the switch is failing and usually needs replacing.
Why is the middle button not registering?
The middle button is the scroll wheel pressed down, and it is easy to scroll slightly instead of pressing straight in. Press the wheel firmly without turning it. If it still does nothing here and in other apps, the middle switch may be faulty or disabled in your mouse software.
Do extra side buttons show up?
Browsers report the standard left, right and middle buttons reliably, and many report the back and forward side buttons too. Some gaming buttons are handled by the mouse driver and remapped to keystrokes, so they may appear as keys rather than mouse buttons, or not at all in a browser.
Is my camera, microphone or data sent anywhere?
No. Every test runs locally in your browser on your own device. When a test needs your camera or microphone, the feed is shown to you and nothing else: it is never uploaded, never recorded to a server, and never stored. Close the tab and it is gone. You can confirm it by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads; the tests still work.
